GET TO KNOW YOUR GUIDE

With years of experience in coaching and mentoring children, Lara is deeply passionate about equipping young minds and hearts with the tools they need to thrive in our ever-evolving world.

As the founder of this program, and many others, her goal is to nurture holistic development with a focus on emotional intelligence, resilience, and life skills. I have worked with families from South Africa, Scotland, Sri Lanka, Qatar, UK, USA and more to create meaningful, lasting change in hundreds of children's lives.

Her approach is grounded in education, psychology, creativity, and compassion - making learning engaging, fun, and deeply impactful. She believes in meeting children where they are, guiding them to explore their inner worlds, and empowering families to support them every step of the way.

Join her on this transformative journey as she guides and supports children in navigating life’s challenges with confidence, curiosity, and connection.

HOW DO I EXPLAIN THIS TO MY CHILD?

Introducing these workshops to your child is simple and exciting! Here’s a helpful way to explain it in language:

"This is an adventure to learn all about our emotions and inner world and how to handle tricky situations. It’s kind of like a treasure hunt where you’ll learn cool skills like solving problems, making friends, and staying calm when things feel tough or tricky. You’ll get to meet other kids your age, play games, and explore fun activities to help you feel more confident!"

Children love knowing what to expect, so you can reassure them:

  • It’s a small group (maximum 8 children), so they’ll feel safe and comfortable sharing - only if they want to and they will NEVER be pressured or forced to talk or share and they can also make use of the chat box to type.

  • They’ll never have to do anything they don’t want to, and it’s all about learning while having fun!

I’ll also provide a welcome email before the program begins with more tips to help set the stage for your child’s journey.

  • What exactly is Anchor, and how does it work?
Anchor is an 8-week online workshop series designed to teach kids emotional literacy, resilience, and essential life skills. Each week features a live, interactive session led by Lara, along with resources to reinforce learning at home.
  • What age groups is this for?
The workshops are currently tailored for three age groups: • 5–7 years: Imaginative play and storytelling. • 8–11 years: Building confidence and social understanding. • 12–14 years: Preparing for real-world challenges with practical tools.
  • Why do children need this?
Children today face a fast-paced and challenging world. Anchor equips them with emotional literacy and essential tools like emotional regulation, confidence, and problem-solving skills to navigate life’s ups and downs. These skills not only help them thrive now but also lay the foundation for a lifetime of emotional and social success.
  • Do online workshops for kids really work?
Yes! My workshops are designed to be highly interactive, engaging, and age-appropriate. With small group sizes and expert facilitation, kids feel supported, connected, and excited to participate. Plus, parents receive resources to reinforce learning at home, ensuring the program’s impact extends beyond the sessions.
  • What will my child learn?
    • Recognising and managing emotions. • Building confidence and self-esteem. • Developing social and communication skills. • Problem-solving and critical thinking.
  • What’s Expected of My Child?
    • A Willingness to Participate: Your child doesn’t need to be outgoing or talkative; they just need to show up and be open to engaging with the group and activities. • Be Ready for Fun: The workshops are designed to feel like an adventure, not school. They’ll enjoy the process of discovery while learning valuable tools. • Curiosity and Questions: If your child has questions or wants to share something during a session, that’s fantastic! Participation is encouraged but never forced.
  • What’s Expected of Parents?
    1. Support Your Child’s Journey: Reinforce what they’re learning at home using the Family Resource Kit, conversation starters, and practical tools provided each week. 2. Encourage Their Growth: Let your child know it’s okay to make mistakes and that learning new skills takes time. Celebrate their effort and progress along the way. 3. Stay Connected: Use WhatsApp to ask questions, get tips, and share updates on how your child is doing. 4. Help Create a Positive Environment: Make sure your child has a quiet, distraction-free space for their workshops to ensure they get the most out of their sessions.
  • What if my child doesn’t engage or enjoy it?
I can confidently say that 90% of children who have attended these online workshops have thoroughly enjoyed them. Your child is also invited to attend a complimentary trial workshop. I create a fun, safe, and inclusive environment designed to encourage participation. Our small group sizes allow for personalised attention, and the workshops are highly interactive and engaging. However, if after the first session your child doesn’t feel it’s the right fit, please reach out, and I'll work with you to find the best solution.
  • What if my child misses a session?
No problem! Each workshop has a pre-recording, so your child can catch up or revisit the material at any time. Plus, I offer WhatsApp support throughout the program. If your child has questions or needs extra guidance after watching the self-paced recording, you can chat with me directly to ensure they stay on track and fully understand the topic.
  • Is this suitable if my child is shy or struggles with group settings?
Absolutely! My expertise and inclusivity along with the small group sizes (max 8 children) foster a safe, supportive environment. For more personalised attention, I also offer optional 1:1 coaching sessions.
  • How much time will my child need to commit?
Each week includes a 55-minute live session and optional activities or resources for additional practice at home.
  • Do parents need to attend the workshops?
No, but I encourage parents to engage with the provided resources and summaries to support their child’s learning at home.
  • How do I register, and when does it start?
Register through my website. Workshops begin in February, with flexible weekday and weekend options available.
